Victorian trade cards were a
popular form of business advertising in the late 1800's-early 1900's.
They had beautiful color graphics or pen sketches on the front, with advertising
for a company on
the back, or the back and/or the front. They were given out free to get you to
patronize particular
businesses. "Cards of The Trade" became a big hit with victorian
ladies, who filled their scrapbooks
with the colorful images. From angels to kitty cats, to household products, they
sometimes had
nothing to do with what was being advertised, but the lithography was excellent.
these images are not touched up from
original ephemera and cover a multitude of subjects, and as always,
you'll need to open them in your own graphics program to crop, filter and
re-design your own artwork
just the covers are depicted, so not every one with have an advertiser's name on
it.
